Support and Information

There are quite a few different places you can go to find help and information. Here are few that I support and find very helpful!

Empowering Amputees - http://www.empoweringamputees.org/ Amputee Empowerment Partners is a diverse group of people who have first-hand experience with limb loss. Having successfully adjusted to life with limb loss, these peer visitors are available to give support and encouragement to new amputees and their families.

Challenged Athletes Foundation - http://www.challengedathletes.org CAF is an organization that helps amputees go from watching sports to actually playing sports! Most of us canʼt afford multiple legs, so running legs may be out of reach. But with CAF anything is possible. You can apply for a grant and they will do their best to get you the leg or any equipment you need.

Camp No Limits - http://www.nolimitsfoundation.org/ Camp No Limits is one of the leading camps for amputees and their families. This is a place where amputees (kids and adults) can share stories, talk and learn from each other, while their families can discuss their perspectives and living as an amputee. Camps usually feature helpful exercises, training, speakers and role models for kids.

Certified Peer Visitors and Amputee Empowerment Partners - The Amputee Empowerment Partners (AEP) are individuals who want to share their stories in order to help someone else in a similar situation. In addition to their personal experiences with limb loss, they participate in a comprehensive training program that prepares them to become certified peer visitors. Coping with the situation becomes a little easier when youʼve got a friend who really understands.

I am a certified peer visitor so please feel free to contact me if you have questions or just need someone to talk to!
