Liners and Sleeves
I am very particular about my liners and have gone through dozens of different kinds. I found that the following set up works best for me. I also want to note that I use same socket, liners and sleeves on all of my legs which makes switching legs very easy!
Alps FSL Liner and Alps Skin Reliever
After I put lotion on my leg I first slide the skin reliever on. Itʼs nice because this skin reliever eliminates the need for custom liners. The skin reliever is very thin and when you slide it on your leg it fills all the invaginations.
Then I put on the liner, which immediately sticks to the skin reliever and combines almost into one custom liner. The material the liner is made from is very similar to those sticky rubber toys you can get for 25 cents. So, when the skin reliever and the liner stick together itʼs really hard to pull them apart.
The Alps liner was originally developed for Winter, the dolphin who lost her tail in a crab trap. She is the reason why I know about this product and why I started wearing it. You can read the full story in the Kids Zone!
Otto Bock Derma ProFlex Sleeve
The sleeve is always the weakest point in any system because they get the most wear and tear. So far, I have found it that the best sleeves out there are Otto Bock Derma ProFlex Sleeves. They are very durable and if your socket is done properly they will last for months. I usually rotate my old sleeves and use them on my back up and water legs. These sleeves also have ridges behind the knee cap that allow you to bend your knee easily.
If you sleeves tear frequently make sure your socket is made properly!
